Artist Table: Grandma Moses: Dec 8th
Artist Table: Grandma Moses
Tuesday, December 8, 6:00 to 8:00 PM
Pull up a seat at the Artist Table, where we spend an evening getting to know an artist by painting like them.
This month, we're stepping into the cheerful, detailed world of Grandma Moses. Anna Mary Robertson Moses didn't begin painting seriously until her late seventies, and she went on to become one of America's best-loved folk artists, with warm scenes of rural life, changing seasons, and neighbors at work and play. Her story is proof that it's never too late to start.
In this class, we'll hear a little about her life, look closely at how she built her scenes, and then paint our own interpretation of one of her paintings! We'll talk through her flat, storybook perspective, her tiny figures and busy details, and her simple, joyful use of color. No drawing skill required. Folk art is about charm, not perfection.
What's included: all painting supplies, plus a small take-home piece to display.
Skill level: all levels welcome.
