All Things Gingerbread: Intro to Slip Trailing: Nov 14th

Get ready for a workshop that is as cute as it is creative!

This hands-on experience will not only help you create an adorable gingerbread-inspired ceramic piece, but will also expand your artistic knowledge by introducing you to the pottery technique of slip trailing.

Slip trailing is a decorative pottery technique where fluid liquid clay, called slip, is piped or squeezed onto the surface of a leather-hard ceramic piece to create raised lines and intricate designs—much like decorating a cake with icing! You’ll learn how to control the slip to create playful patterns, borders, and decorative details.

We’ll be working with red-bodied clay and white slip to capture that authentic gingerbread look, complete with charming “icing” decorations. Choose to make 2 small slab items, or build a miniature ginger bread house. Whether you’re new to ceramics or looking to build your decorating skills, this workshop is the perfect opportunity to get creative, learn a new technique, and make a festive ceramic piece that is uniquely yours!

 

Finished pieces will be ready for pickup in approximately one month, allowing for drying and firing time.
