Summer Artist Retreat
Saturday & Sunday | July 18th–19th
Facilitated by Visiting Artist Erica Melcher & Domas Studio Owner Grace
$225

**Lodging not provided

Join us at Domas Studio for a thoughtfully designed weekend centered around creativity, reflection, experimentation, and community.

The Summer Artist Retreat is an immersive two-day experience that brings together multiple artistic practices and approaches within one intentional weekend. Rather than simply attending individual classes, retreat participants are invited to settle into the rhythm of creating, moving from reflection, to storytelling, to exploration, to expressive art-making alongside other creatives in a welcoming studio environment.

Throughout the weekend, you’ll experience a variety of guided classes facilitated by visiting artist Erica Melcher and Domas Studio owner Grace, while also enjoying dedicated time to rest, connect, journal, snack, and simply exist within a creative atmosphere.

All classes included in this retreat are also available for individual registration, but retreat participants receive the added experience of remaining in the studio throughout the day, enjoying catered meals, snacks, community gathering time, and a slower, retreat-style pace.

Saturday, July 18th

9–11 AM | Art Therapy Workshop with Grace

We’ll begin the retreat weekend with a reflective art therapy workshop centered around painting, emotional processing, and creative exploration. This guided experience is designed to help participants slow down, reconnect with themselves, and use art as a tool for reflection and expression.

A light breakfast and coffee setup will be provided during this workshop.

11 AM–12 PM | Retreat Break

Retreat participants are welcome to remain at the studio during this time to relax, journal, connect with others, or continue independent creative work.

Throughout the day, retreat members will have access to a full snack and sandwich bar featuring grab-and-go lunch items, snacks, drinks, and light dinner options.

12–3 PM | Junk Journaling with Erica Melcher

Junk journaling is a layered, mixed-media form of journaling that combines papers, photographs, notes, textures, fabric, tickets, found objects, and keepsakes into a working piece of art. Part scrapbook, part collage, part storytelling, junk journaling offers a creative way to preserve meaningful moments and transform everyday clutter into something personal and artistic.

Erica will guide participants through layering techniques, composition ideas, and ways to incorporate personal items into a visually rich journal experience.

3–5 PM | Retreat Break

During this longer afternoon break, retreat participants are invited to enjoy the studio space, connect with fellow artists, rest, or continue creating independently.

Throughout the day, retreat members will have access to a full snack and sandwich bar featuring grab-and-go lunch items, snacks, drinks, and light dinner options.

5–8 PM | Landscape Painting with Erica Melcher

End the evening with a large-scale landscape painting experience focused on atmosphere, color, and expressive brushwork. Erica will guide participants through techniques that help landscapes feel alive through movement, layering, depth, and thoughtful use of color relationships.

This class is designed to feel approachable while still offering strong technical guidance and artistic exploration.

Sunday, July 19th

12–1 PM | Catered Retreat Lunch

Retreat participants will gather together for a catered lunch at the studio, a chance to slow down, reflect on the weekend, share conversation, and enjoy community together before our final class.

1–3 PM | Expressive Abstracts via Mixed Media with Grace

We’ll close the retreat weekend with an expressive mixed media class exploring abstract art through layering, texture, movement, and experimentation.

Mixed media combines multiple artistic materials and techniques within one piece of artwork, such as paint, collage, charcoal, mark-making, texture mediums, and layered surfaces. This class is designed to encourage freedom, intuition, and creative play while helping participants explore how abstract art can communicate emotion and energy without needing to be realistic or “perfect.”

This final session is about letting go, experimenting, and ending the weekend fully immersed in the joy of creating.
