Students will mix, test, and experiment with reactions using materials commonly found in the kitchen.

Monday 15th - Volcano Eruptions

Students will build and decorate mini volcanoes before triggering classic fizzing eruptions using baking soda and vinegar. Along the way, they’ll experiment with variables like ingredient amounts and added dish soap to see how the reaction changes.

Tuesday 16th – Elephant Toothpaste

One of the most dramatic science experiments! Students will create a foamy explosion by combining hydrogen peroxide and yeast to demonstrate how catalysts speed up chemical reactions.

Wednesday 17th – Cabbage pH Indicator Lab

Students will create a natural pH indicator from red cabbage and test a variety of household liquids. They’ll watch color changes that reveal whether substances are acidic or basic and build their own pH color chart.

Thursday 18th – Oobleck Lab

Is it a liquid or a solid? Students will create Oobleck, a fascinating non-Newtonian fluid that behaves differently depending on how pressure is applied. We’ll explore viscosity and even make the mixture “dance” with vibration.

Friday 19th – Chromatography Rainbow

Students will discover the hidden pigments inside markers using chromatography techniques. Coffee filters and water separate colors into beautiful rainbow patterns while demonstrating how mixtures can be broken apart.

Week 2: Water Solutions & Science Reactions

June 22–26

Week two focuses on solutions, density, and chemical reactions that involve water and everyday materials.

Monday 22– Invisible Ink Lab

Students will write secret messages using chemical solutions and reveal them using heat and color reactions.
