Junk Journaling with Visiting Artist Erica Melcher
Saturday, July 18th | 12–3 PM
Adults + Teens 14+

Join us at Domas Studio for an afternoon of storytelling, creativity, and memory keeping through the art of junk journaling with visiting artist Erica Melcher.

Junk journaling is a layered, mixed-media approach to journaling that combines papers, photographs, textures, notes, fabric, tickets, and found objects into a working piece of art. It’s part scrapbook, part journal, part collage, and entirely personal. The beauty of junk journaling is that it gives meaningful items a place to live rather than sitting tucked away in drawers, boxes, or scattered piles.

Throughout class, Erica will guide participants through techniques for layering, composition, attaching materials, and creatively building pages filled with texture and personality. This is a relaxed and exploratory class meant to encourage creative freedom and personal storytelling rather than perfection.

All supplies will be provided, including small journals and a variety of materials to enhance your pages. However, if this is something you’d like to continue building on long term, we highly recommend bringing your own journal. We also encourage participants to bring small personal items they may want to incorporate into their work, such as:

  • Photographs
  • Concert tickets
  • Notes or letters
  • Fabric scraps
  • Maps or postcards
  • Pressed flowers
  • Receipts, tags, or paper keepsakes
  • Any small mementos that hold meaning to you

This class is perfect for anyone looking for a creative way to preserve memories, reduce clutter, and turn everyday keepsakes into something artistic and deeply personal.

No experience is needed, just come ready to create and explore.
